Newmarket Divers, British Sub-Aqua Club Branch 796, has around 45 members with varying interests including 8 nationally qualified instructors.
Newmarket Divers and BSAC welcome divers who have been trained by other agencies. So if you've been trained by PADI, NAUI, SSI, CMAS, or anyone else, you can still be a member, and you don't need to do a cross-over course. If you do want to move to BSAC for further training that's OK too, and there are a range of options depending on your diver qualification level. BSAC provide a cross-over reference file here (pdf).
Members and their families are entitled to use the pool free of charge on Friday nights between 8.00pm - 9.00. Afterwards we usually gather at the local pub.
The club arranges a variety of trips each year, both abroad and in the UK.
Club membership is currently £80 per year, plus BSAC membership fee.
Our air compressor provides clean air up to 300 bar. Air fills are included free as part of your membership. The club also has a range of equipment available to members.
The club has a number of technical divers who mix regular diving with deeper and longer dives. Several club divers are qualified to use trimix to 75 metres and there are 3 divers actively using APD rebreathers. Activities include trips to the Red Sea, Malta and the South Coast with regular practice at Chepstow. Divers who have already completed suitable training with any agency ( PADI TecRec, BSAC, TDI, PSAI etc ) are welcome. The club has very good contacts with highly qualified training organisations for anyone looking to further their training. If you have any interest in this area of diving, please come to the club and have a chat with us and see what we can offer.
